Tattoo Inks and Pigments
Tattoo pigments are substances used to create designs on the skin. Tattoo ink is designed to be long-lasting, but over time, tattoos can fade as the immune system attempts to remove foreign substances from the body. However, most tattoo pigment molecules are too large to be expelled by the cells, which is why tattoo ink remains in the skin.
